Paper Crafter’s Library Design Team Call

We are excited to announce that Paper Crafters Library is expanding!  Each month we inspire our readers through the many projects and videos we create – we would like to add YOUR talent to the mix!

If you are a friendly and enthusiastic person who is passionate about paper crafting, and would like to share your designs with the world – then we want to hear from you!

We are looking for 4 – 6 paper crafters to join our new Design Team!  Each week of the month we will spotlight a Design Team Member’s creations. If you would like a chance to participate, read on for more information.

The BENEFITS of being a Design Team Member:

  • FREE product – each month our design team members will receive a goodie box filled with products to use in their creations for the following month (average value: $50 – $75 MSRP) – you may use additional products from your own stash as well.
  • FREE Paper Crafter’s Library membership for the months you are on our Design Team (value: $20 per month)
  • 20% Discount on products from the Sunny Stampin’ Store
  • Your name and bio on our site, along with a link to your personal blog giving you exposure and traffic

This is what Paper Crafter’s Library requires of all it’s Design Team Members:

  • 3 month commitment whereby you are assigned one week per month starting Feb 1st, 2012
  • 3-4 projects each month using the supplies we send (you may supplement from your stash). We are looking for variety in your projects such as cards, scrapbook layouts, 3D items etc. – we will not need the actual project mailed to us – instead each month you will submit several pictures of each project.
  • Social Networking – sharing your projects on your blog, and if you have them, online galleries, Facebook & Twitter
  • 2-3 raw project videos per month that you would upload to our Dropbox (our editing department will edit, we just need raw footage).

Submission Guidelines ( Deadline: December 29th)

  • Create a post on your blog or website with the title “Paper Crafter’s Library Design Team Submission”.  Showcase 3 projects in the post that represent your best design style (these can be existing projects – you do not need to create new projects for your applicaton) – multiple pictures of each project are allowed. Your blog post will allow us to see not only your design style, but also your style of writing and how you set up your photographs.
  • Film a video of a project and upload it to You Tube. If you already post videos to You Tube then all we need is a link to an existing video.  As Paper Crafter’s Library is a VIDEO library – the ability to create videos is essential.  Your video will allow us to see your style of teaching and your filming quality (i.e. clarity, lighting, view, etc.)
  • At this time we can only accept applications from readers living in Canada and the Continental US.

Once that is done, email us with the following information:

  • Email subject line “Design Team Application” – in the email include a link to your blog post, and a link to your video.
  • Shipping address and phone number
  • Tell us a little bit about yourself (short bio)
  • Tell us how long you have been a paper crafter and what types of paper crafting you do (i.e. cards, scrapbooks, 3D, altered art, mixed media etc)
  • Whether or not you have a Facebook account, and Twitter account

We’d also like you to come back to this post and leave us a link to your entry in the comments section of this post so that our readers can see you work too!

Deadline to apply is Thursday, Dec. 29th.  We will then choose the 4-6 new Design Team members and announce them on the blog on Wednesday, January 4th.  Kits will be sent out that week with the first projects due at the end of January to be posted on Paper Crafter’s Library beginning February 1st (January projects can use supplies from your own stash if your kit did not arrive in time).

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at: customerservice@papercrafterslibrary.com and we will help you in any way we can.

FINE PRINT:

  • Design Team Members will be announced Wednesday, Jan. 4th here on the blog
  • If you are selected as a Design Team member – any videos you create will become the property of Paper Crafter’s Library – they cannot be uploaded to You Tube or posted anywhere else for free on the internet.

We wish everyone luck and look forward to all the amazing creations you have to share.

Makeover Monday Challenge #7: Inspired by Maille Bells….& A Winner

Christmas Ornament Card by Andrea Walford

Welcome to our Make Over Monday Challenge – a weekly challenge brought to you by the Paper Crafter’s Library and Sunny Stampin’ Studios.  The purpose of Makeover Monday is to help you learn how to take the ideas and inspiration you find on the internet, and make it your own. This challenge is strictly a “work from your stash” challenge.

Over the last 7 years of teaching in the paper crafting industry, I’ve noticed that many of my students feel like they have to run out and buy the exact same products I used, rather than looking to their own stash to see if they having something that might work instead.

Now  I’ll be the first to admit, shopping for paper crafting supplies is fun, and I certainly do my share of it, but why spend your money on a product that may be similar to what you already have?………………and that’s where the concept for Makeover Monday was born.

Every Monday I take a project I found on the internet, and show you my process for recreating it and making it my own, using supplies from my own stash.

This week’s inspiration for the project shown above, comes from the picture you see below – a clean and simple, but striking Christmas Card by Maille Bells. I just discovered Maille’s blog about a year ago, and was really taken by her clean style, and the fact that she incorporates some really neat design elements into her projects.

You can watch the video on how I made my project below:

Here are the details on how you can participate in the Makeover Monday Challenge:

  • A new Makeover Monday Challenge & video will go up every Monday
  • Work from your own stash to create a project based on the inspiration project provided – you can use any products you would like, and make any type of project you like – card, scrapbook page, album, 3D item etc.
  • Post your project on your blog, in your gallery or on any other photo-hosting site (such as photobucket or flickr).
  • Click on our inLinkz button below to add a link to your project for our challenge

  • One randomly selected winner will be chosen from ALL the entries on Monday, December 19h, in the afternoon.
  • The winner will be posted here.  The randomly selected winner will win a Digital Tutorial of their choice valued at up to $25 from the Sunny Stampin’ Store (www.sunnystampinstore.com).

4 oz Square Plastic Bottles

For today’s Product Spotlight and Freebie Friday I wanted to show you another fun new product we introduced into the Sunny Stampin’ Store at the same time we brought in the round trendy test tubes – these Trendy Square 4 oz Bottles with a lined aluminum screw on cap.  We are selling them for $2.25 CAN + shipping.  We do ship internationally – your credit card company or Paypal will take care of the currency exchange for you.

I must confess, I have a weakness for all things alterable – and there’s something about little bottles and tubes that really appeal to me. I found these bottles to be a really nice size because you can put larger sized items inside – whether it’s treats, craft supplies like buttons, or even use them in your kitchen.

In today’s video we are going to give you a close up view of these bottles and share a tutorial on how to create the Decorated Treat Bottle shown below.

Below you can see another project I’ve created using these square bottles – it’s a Holiday Treat Tote that will hold two of the square bottles.

Trendy Test Tubes With A Silver Cap

For today’s Product Spotlight and Freebie Friday I wanted to show you a fun new product we just introduced into the Sunny Stampin’ Store – round trendy test tubes with a silver screw on cap.  We’ve brought in two different sizes – a 6″ tall test tube for $1.75 CAN + shipping and a 4″ tall test tube for $1.50 CAN + shipping.  We do ship internationally – your credit card company or Paypal will take care of the currency exchange for you.

From the moment I saw these test tubes I absolutely fell in love with them, because you can use them for so many things and incorporate them into so many different projects.  In today’s video we are going to give you a close up view of the test tubes and share a tutorial on how to create the Holiday Test Tube Table Top Treat Holder shown below.  I thought it would make the perfect table favor for our Christmas dinner this year. This treat holder uses the 4″ high test tubes.

This next project you see below uses the 6″ test tubes.  It’s a Hot Chocolate for Two Kit – it includes two packets of hot chocolate, and then the test tube filled with marshmallows.  This was a 12 Weeks of Christmas project for our 12 Weeks of Christmas 2011 event, and has now been moved into Paper Crafter’s Library for members only.  If you are a member, you can view the video tutorial from HERE (make sure you are logged in).

Product Spotlight & Freebie Friday: Echo Park Holly Jolly Christmas Collection….Enter to Win! + Winners of Last Week’s Freebie Friday

*Scroll to the bottom of this post to see last week’s Freebie Friday Winner*

Welcome to another edition of Freebie Friday!  Today we’re going to spotlight the Holly Jolly Christmas collection – a fun and whimsical collection by Echo Park.  I’m going to share with you a couple of different projects I made using that collection, I’ll give you details about this week’s give-away, aaaaand, I’m going to announce the winner from last week’s Freebie Friday!

Echo Park is another company that I was first “introduced” to at CHA (Craft and Hobby Association Trade Show) in Chicago this past summer.  I had never heard of them before either and didn’t really own any of their product.  What I immediately loved about their company is that all their products are released in collections – while you can buy the papers and accessories separately, they put together a “kit” for ALL of their collections.  I personally love working with collections because it makes coordinating various products and elements so easy.

Our video below will give you a closer look:

Today I’ve created a few projects with this collection.  The first, is the Merry and Bright Christmas Card picture below.  It uses a combination of patterned papers and incorporates other elements such as buttons, ribbon and twine. The main focal point uses a sticker from the Element sheet included in the collection.  You can watch a free video tutorial on how this card was created here.

Merry And Bright Christmas Card Card Featuring Echo Park's Holly Jolly Christmas Collection

The second project I created using this collection is this Holiday Note Pad Holder.  It is sized to fit the  3 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ note pads we carry in the Sunny Stampin’ Store.  The covers were created out of chipboard and it’s hinged at the top.  There is a ribbon loop to hold the pen in place, and a silver elastic cord closure to keep it closed.  There is a video tutorial and pdf handout available in Paper Crafter’s Library for members only.  If you are a member of Paper Crafter’s Library, please click HERE to wach the video tutorial.

Okay, so now, details on how to enter or Freebie Friday Giveaway…..simple, all you have to do is enter a comment in the comment’s section of this post – if you could pick one paper crafting item you’d like to see under the tree this year, what would it be?

The winner will be announced on Friday, December 2nd.  Whoever that lucky person is, will only have 24 hours to email us to claim their prize, if we don’t hear from you, then someone else’s name will be selected!

Finally, the winner of last week’s Freebie Friday give-away for the Spellbinders Presto Punch shown below…….
