Technique Thursday: Faux Metal and Faux Cloisonne

 Club52Week23Introduction

Every Thursday on Paper Crafter’s Library is Technique Thursday – it’s when we create and feature projects for our Club 52 online class (our year-long technique club), and for our Paper Crafter’s Library members. Although really, we probably should have called it Club 104 since each week we typically release two techniques LOL!

We’re now on week 23, and are continuing on with embossing techniques. This week we’re learning a couple of faux techniques: faux metal and faux cloisonne. For example, in the tag on the left, the ticket embellishment has been created using the faux metal technique.  The tag on the right uses the faux cloisonne technique to add beauty to the flowers.

If you’re interested in checking out what we’ve covered so far, you can look at our Club 52 page. If you’re a techique junkie and would like to learn new techniques (as many of them are ones we have created), or revisit old ones – you can still sign up from this page – you’ll be able to access all 22 weeks we’ve done so far, plus the remaining weeks, and your access to the classroom will last for 15 months.

February Design Team Projects from Michelle Wecksler

Hi everyone!!!  I am so excited to be creating my first blog post for you as a new Design Team member!!!!  I hope the projects I’ve created for you spark your creativity and inspire you to try something new!  I decided to bring some spring to the winter here in Colorado by playing with the new Twitterpated Suite from Stampin’ Up!  I love the floral images and the bright colors!

For my first project I created this Twitterpated Mini Book combining the Twitterpated designer series paper with the new Adorning Accents edgelits!  I did a bit of “up cycling” by using the paperboard that comes as the backing for the designer series paper to make the pages of this book more sturdy.  You can add photos, journaling, mini messages and more to your pages.

What book (even a mini book) doesn’t need a bookmark?!  For my second project I had fun playing with the Twitterpated designer fabric and buttons along with satin pleated ribbon to create Die kostenlosen Casino Spiele bieten den Spielern die Moglichkeit Dit was natuurlijk de makers van casino software ook niet ontgaan en zij hebben dan ook hun eigen versie van mens versus poker gemaakt. Ihre Spielfahigkeiten zu testen und die Regeln zu verstehen, bevor er echtes Geld einsetzt. a bookmark.  I love creating items that you can use every day!

My final Sjekk ut om ditt spillenettsted har Android Casino . project for you is a set of small tile magnets using the Twitterpated designer series paper, Twitterpated buttons and large adhesive pearls from Stampin’ Up!  These magnets make a quick online casinos and easy gift to give or to keep!  If you decide to give them as a gift, an altered tin would make a great gift box!

I hope you’ve enjoyed these projects!  Please let me know if you have any questions!  Video tutorials and pdf handouts for the mini book and magnets are available to Paper Crafter’s Library members.   I”ve also filmed a video for our members on how to use the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies and Textured Impressions Embossing Folders with your Big Shot.  There is a pdf handout for the fabric bookmark.  Please make sure that you are logged in first in order to access the vidoes and handouts.

Please Welcome New Design Team Member Michelle Wecksler

Michelle WeckslerA few months back we decided to add to the Paper Crafter’s Library team.  We put out a call for some Design Team members and selected a few ladies to join our team.  They have been hard at work, creating some paper crafting projects to share with you!

It is with great pleasure that we introduce you to the first of our Design Team members,  Michelle Wecksler.  Michelle is very excited to be a part of the first ever Paper Crafter’s Library Design Team!

Michelle brings a great deal of enthusiasm to our team.  She is a self-proclaimed artist and  strongly believes that each of us has unique creative gifts to bring into this world and she tries to do her best to inspire herself and others to tap into that wealth of creativity!  And that’s just what we are going to do, share some of Michelle’s talent and inspiration with you through her work.  You’ll have a chance to see Michelle’s projects tomorrow. In the meantime, please be sure to visit Michelle’s blog Figments of My Imagination.

Learn more about Michelle:

“I live in Denver, Colorado and am humbled by the gorgeous Rocky Mountains on a daily basis. I live with my partner Michael and our four-legged kids; Willow the cat and Buddy the dog.

I think of myself as a Renaissance woman when it comes to art – I might be playing with paper one day and mosaics the next! Paper crafting is a special love of mine – just the feel of paper in my hands gets the creative juices flowing! I have been a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator for 4 years and have had numerous projects published in Paper Crafts magazine. I am also a “recovering lawyer.” After receiving my law degree and becoming an attorney in Atlanta, GA, I spent very little time actually practicing law – it just didn’t warm my heart. Instead I found myself drawn to mediation, consulting and teaching. Currently you can still find me on the road conducting training sessions at corporations on the topics of communication skills, negotiation skills and conflict resolution. Returning to the craft room after a trip keeps me centered.Making art is my true passion! Thank you for letting me share my passion with you.

My biggest goal when it comes to papercrafting and art in general is to honor myself as a creative being and to allow myself to express my creativity!   I would also like to continue to find my own voice – my own style – when it comes to my art.  The only way for me to do that is to keep creating; to keep being open to making mistakes, and to continue to move forward no matter what my inner critic says!  I know that going into the craft room keeps me centered.  Making art in any form is my true passion and I appreciate the opportunity to share it with you!

I think sometimes we sit around waiting for the right moment, the right mood, the right inspiration.  I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of waiting!  I think the best way to jump start your creativity is to just show up at the place where you do your art making, grab the first stamp or tool or card stock or color that jumps out at you and do something with it!  When you show your creativity that you are willing to jump in with both feet, your creativity has a tendency to keep running!”

Please help us to warmly welcome Michelle!

Makeover Monday Challenge #13: Inspired by Darlene Devries

Technique Thursday: Embossed Coloring With Pastels and With Alcohol Markers

 Club52Week22Introduction

Every Thursday on Paper Crafter’s Library is Technique Thursday – it’s when we create and feature projects for our Club 52 online class (our year-long technique club), and for our Paper Crafter’s Library members. Although really, we probably should have called it Club 104 since each week we typically release two techniques LOL!

We’re now on week 22, and are continuing on with embossing techniques.  Last week we were using UTEE (Ultra Thick) embossing powder.  This week we’ve moved on to embossing with white embossing powder and adding color with alternate mediums to enhance specific areas of a stamped image.  For example, in the tag on the right, the owl is highlighted by adding color using pastels directly over the embossed image.  The tag on the left adds multiple colors with the use of alcohol markers to the entire embossed image.
