Do you love to learn new techniques which you can apply to your stamping, greeting cards, scrapbook pages, altered art or art journals? Then this club might be just the thing for you!
Club 52 is a brand new technique club we recently launched here on Paper Crafter’s Library – which we are opening up as an online class for non-members. The cost of the class is $60 CAN (about the same in US funds). Anyone from around the world can sign up.
This class is going to last for 52 weeks – and you are guaranteed to learn at least one new technique each week - so by the end of a one year period, you are guaranteed to learn at least 52 different techniques – many of which will be original techniques created by members of the Paper Crafter’s Library team! Also included in the price of this class is a number of bonus techniques. You will have access to the classroom for 1 year and 3 months from the date that you join so that you have plenty of time to view all the videos and download the printed instructions.
Here’s how the club is going to work: we are going to explore 1 medium/product at a time – and teach you a number of different techniques using that medium/product. That way, you know that when you buy a particular product or medium you’ll have lots of different options for using it – so you know that you’ll really be getting your money’s worth out of that product.
In many cases the products/mediums used will not be brand-specific – in other words, as long as you have a similar product, even if it’s from a different manufacturer, you’ll be able to substitute it. So for example – for the first four weeks of the club we are going to be exploring techniques using dye-based inks. ANY brand of dye-ink can be used – whether it’s Stampin’ Up! Classic ink, Adirondack Dye-Inks, Hero Arts shadow inks, Jenni Bowlin Dye inks, Tim Holtz Distress Inks etc.
Each technique (and any variations on that technique) will include a video tutorial. We will also provide you with some brief written instructions for that technique that you can print out. We are demonstrating all of our techniques on tags that are about 3 1/8″ x 6 1/4″ – all the tags will be finished and decoraged. The technique will be shown on one side of the tag and the printed instructions can be placed on the back of the tag. That way, as the club progresses, you will essentially be creating your own technique “booklet”.
If you are a paper crafting instructor or store owner you are welcome to use these techniques and our printed instructions in your own classes.
We’ve already posted the week 1 techniques, and Week 2′s will be posted on Friday, so as soon as you join, you can launch right in! In fact, you can see a sneak peek below.
For Weeks 1 -4 we are going to be exploring background techniques with dye-based inks. The Week 1 technique is one we came up with which we call the Swiped Background Technique – and we will be showing you three different variations – 1 color, 2 colors, and 3 colors. So already, week 1 is going to give you three different techniques!

Oh Andrea, pick me! This year has been the worst, seperation, moving back to Canada, starting all over again! I need some positive in my life! I would love to learn the brayered background technique and all you have to teach!
I love the printed napkin technique. You take a piece of cardstock, a piece of saran wrap bigger than the CS, and a printed napkin that’s bigger than the piece of cardstock and a few pieces of copy paper on top.
Iron all the pieces together and trim. Now you have your own custom cardstock.
im still a beginner at scrapbooking even though ive been doing it now for a few years, i would love to learn more about stampin techniques

That’s so exciting! I have to say, I’m an absolute technique junkie!! There are just so many!! One of my faves is(don’t even know the exact name),where you stamp a background stamp, or wording, then clear emboss a large image overtop, then brayer and or sponge over that with 1-3 colours….a sort of collage technique. LOVE IT!!

Where do you find time to do all this!!! I love your creativity! I would love to be entered in your new online training classes drawing. What a great idea! It’s perfect for me since I have had to quit going to SU monthly due to lack of time with 3 girls and it was to far from where I live. I love learning new techniques! Since many of my SU customers are “advanced” it’s sometimes hard for me to think of new techniques to introduce to them. This would really help me a lot!! I love techniques using chalks/pastels.
One of my favorite techniques is using a stamp pad or ink roller to color the background when using an embossing folder. The raised area is the color of the card stock and the background is the color of the ink pad or ink that has been rolled on with a brayer. I already have so many crafting related tools and machines, etc. that I’d like to learn how to actually really use them instead of them collecting dust in my craft room.

I also love to learn new techniques. How to use my stamps in new ways would be good. Sometimes I get in a rut and only use them one way when there’s many more creative uses for them. I once saw someone stamp a stamp into ink and then comb it to make little lines on it. Works well with a big flat object like an apple. I love all paper ideas–like sanding white core paper, tearing, etc. There’s probably lots more ideas. . .Thanks.

Maybe this will be my lucky time to enter. I have tried to get techniques put together but it sure is a challenge to keep everything uniform, written up and sampled. Some guidance like yours I bet would make it that much better as I could organize everything and set some goals. You do some very neat water painting projects and video would be the best as I really work better from a visual for understanding.

I’d love to learn anything using a brayer. I have two and NEVER use them.
I’m a plain and simple gal. I don’t use a lot of techniques in any of my projects, however, I’d love to learn a little more about shading with regular markers rather than investing in expensive markers such as Copics. With the creativity of these ladies, I can only imagine what an exciting year this will be!!

I think this is a summer thing to do and making the tags as a way to save instructions and have a visual of the technique is uber cool! I can’t wait until you start working with alcohol inks. I see Tim Holtz using them a lot and really want to learn techniques with them. I already bought some of them. Our local craft store Crafts Direct had them on sale for $1.50 a bottle. It was hard to choose what colors I wanted to start with. Again, thanks for such a cool idea. keep up the good work!!

Some of the techniques I’ve learned from Andrea, I would have never tried, but she always
makes it look easy, so I just have to try them out. Club 52 Techniques ideal of the products/mediums used will not be brand-specific is wonderful, includes a video tutorial is great, and written instructions is perfect. Putting the techniques on tags with the technique on one side of the tag and the printed instructions on the back, then making them into a booklet with all 52 techniques is just awesome. You might ask where have I been but basically I did scrapbooking and the odd card making ,now this year I dont think I have bought a card and I love making gifts for presents and my world has opened up to water colours, embossing, brayering and I would dearly love the great opportunity to learn new techniques , perfect some of my so called attempts at the new techniques and share the love of craft with others. What a great idea! I love to learn new techniques! My favorite one is the one where you use the used dryer sheet.I would love to join the technique club. I have a missionary that just left a few weeks ago on a mission for the LDS church. He’s going to Houston, TX. I’m so glad that he’s willing to go and serve the people in Texas. Since we pay for hiis needs while he’s there we have to watch our budget more carefully. Maybe I’ll get lucky and win a free registration.

What a great idea! Techniques are so fun..these tags look awesome! A fav technique…to choose just one, hmmm…emboss resist has so many possiblilites…maybe that one! (a thing about making great backgrounds with different techniques is having to cover them up with a focal image! teaching me how best to utilize some of the BG techniques into cards would be great)

I would love to learn more technique, especially shading/coloring in stamps.
I can benefit from learning just about any technique as I’m very new to cardmaking. I love shading through coloring,blending… but am intrigued by masking and layering techniques but haven’t tried them. You know the ones with the gorgeous suns with sillouettes in the foreground. This would be a terrific lift to my cardmaking skills.

Gosh Andrea, I love to try everything at least once so it would be hard for me to say just one technique. There is one medium that rarely ever see any technique tutorials on, that is Acrylic Gesso. I bought it over a year ago to use on some project, never did and now I don’t know what to use it for. But if you remember, I love using different mediums so I would love to win a registration for your technique club. How awesome that would be.

Firstly, i’m terrible at remembering the cool names for all the nifty techniques out there. I know there are some embossed resist techniques that confuse me that I would love to learn more about it.
I think have a technique class is awesome. There are so many new techniques coming out all of the time and it would be great to learn some new ones in the comfort of your own home. A lot of people just don’t have time to take classes all over the place. Great Idea! I have gotten on the copic bandwagon and would love to learn some more detailed techniques using these markers.

I love just about all techniques. One thing I do like in a new technique is when you use something you already have around the house. I remember when I first starting stamping, using plastic wrap and your ink pads to make backgrounds was a very popular technique. One product that I’m interested in learning new techniques with is glitter. I bought a TON of glitter at one of those scrapbook expos and now I’m kind of at a loss as what to do with it. Any ideas?

I hope I get a freebie here! I love your swiped technique. It looks better than the similar Backgrounds I have attempted. I like to emboss with glitter for Christmas cards. I hope to win so I can learn faux surface techniques, such as sand, moss and marble. I am open to any of the techniques, since I am a newbie. Wow I didn’t even know there were 52 techniques. Right now I like sanding my images after I put them through my Big Shot. I love learning new techniques. I think this is the class for me to expand my knowledge base. Oh I’ve also been experimenting with different folds to make fun cards. My next technique I want to try is to make a waterfall card. There are so many techniques that I would love to learn, I’m not sure where I would begin. I always try to incorporate a new technique when holding my classes but often find I’m trying to many different things. It would be nice to be able to use 1 product several different ways.

Andrea! You have truly outdone yourself again! I am simply amazed at how creative and organized you are to have all these great ideas AND sharing them with us! Thank you for all you’ve shared and taught. One of my favorite techniques for making backgrounds is to use glossy paper, swirl on different colors of craft ink, and maybe add some glitter or gold leafing pen to create a great marbled look. Then I stamp on top after it is dried.

GREAT concept, and I’d particularly love this because I’m disabled with a chronic illness and often can’t get out to classes, so I’m grateful to learn online. Thank you for this opportunity to win this wonderful set of technique classes, I’d be thrilled to win it and would make great use of it by watching and trying them out as they are introduced. I find stamping is a wonderful hobby that gives me an artistic outlet that I appreciate so much, and I love creating and watching my cards improve as I learn new techniques.

I love the idea of learning new techniques. I live in a midsize town in AR and we only have one small dedicated scrapbook store and one craft store. I have traveled to Memphis to attend some technique classes at an upscale scrapbook store there but that is not always convenient. I like the idea of being able to lean new ideas from the privacy of my home at my speed. I mainly scrapbook and make cards for my friends. I find that when I make a card usually for a birthday party….it is always last minutes so I don’t do a “technique” because I figure it will take too long or don’t know how to pull it off. WOW!!! This is so cool. would say that one of my favorite techniques is the faux silk. at least that’s I think it is. It’s when you stamp your image, then apply stick glue to your image all over and cover with a piece of tissue paper and cut off the excess. It’s really cool. I hope I win this, and Monday is my birthday too, woohoo!!! but even if I don’t. Woohoo to the person that does. This is a fabulous opportunity. Thank you Andrea.

Being a stay at home mom to a child with Down syndrome makes it easier for me to focus on a little time with card making. Thomas is so easy going, he tries to help me by playing with some of my papers. He is 16 months..his big brother, Kaj, has just started grade primary a week ago so now Thomas and I are alone at home to “focus” on card making..hope this is successful for you!

What a great idea! My Brayer is very lonely. Ever since the rainbow ink pads left it almost never gets out to play! But I duo enjoy embossed resist. Especially when you just sponge over one or two images. Always gets great reactions from my customers.

I love your idea for this class. I would like to learn how to create design boards. That’s not the correct name but it’s a large shhet of paper with stampin, tissue paper, other oaoer, etc. It’s then used as a background for multiple cards and/or scrapbook pages. No two are everthe same.

Wow that is a very interesting way to show off different techniques. Most I have seen have been placed in books. This idea of doing tags will enable you to have that ring of techniques at your fingertips and will take up very little space. Wonderful!

First of all I think this is a GREAT idea! I always tend to use the same techniques and would like to learn more about other techniques in order to have more variety in my cardmaking/scrapbooking. I am often at my daughters to house sit, cat sit, chaerone the grandchildren and make greeting cards and whatever for them. No matter what the age of a body or the experience that a person may have one can always learn something new. What a treat it would be if one learned one new thing a week for 52 weeks and not leave the comfort of ones home. Imagine no driving, no bad weather and best of all no money spent on gas for the car. It was nice to come home from the hospital and see this fun opportunity. I have a pretty long recovery to go through and being home bound I would love to have new craft techniques to look forward to. Probably 50 out of the 52 ideas would be new to me since I am new in the paper crafting world. I have no idea what most of the techniques are that have been mentioned above. I LOVE crafts and sticker art/scrapbooking has always been fun for me and I have a ton of stuff I have no idea how to use. I would love to learn any and all you have to offer. Hmm, favorite technique – teabag folding if that counts. What I really need to learn though is how to color better, copics, prismacolors, whatever, everything I use looks so flat.

I live at papercrafting websites, I go out and buy the materials; but then I don’t use them. I think I just don’t understand the instructions. If I see a video of a technique, I can get it! My brayer is used mainly to roll across the uninked side of piece of cardstock – I need to break out and really use it. I would love to have a guided tutorial through different tecniques each week. What a challenge! Such great creativity to be unleashed.

What a treat it would be to win this! I love to see techniques, and don’t always practise right away, and forget how to do things. I tend to stick with basics – like embossing with folders, and using die cuts. My favorite technique is cracked glass. I don’t do it at lot though especially now that SU has discontinued the thick embossing powder that you need.
Embossing got me hooked on stamping, initially, but gradually learning so much more. The 52 week techniques club sounds wonderful. I love your kits and tutorials.

I live in rural New Zealand and because of the distances I need to travel to go to classes I joined your Paper Craft Library, and have just loved it. I would love to view your ideas on Artist Fabric. This is such a cool fabric you can paint or stamp or whatever other medium you can think of. Let’s say you want a button hole all you do is cut the canvas fabric a tad bigger than your button. So you do not have to fray check or use a button hole maker just cut. This opens up a whole new world. I would love to see what your vision would be. Just an idea.

My favorite techniques are the ones that are easy to do and easy to teach others. Dry embossing with my Big Shot and heat embossing are two such techniques. I am ready and desiring to learning more and would so enjoy winning a year of technique tutorials. Thank you for the opportunity!

There are so many techniques out there and too many to list. I think the burnished velvet glitter technique gives you amazing results! Another project would be utilizing one sheet of cardstock and making a few projects with it… now that’s fascinating!

My favorite technique is heat embossing. The very first card I made used this technique and it got me hooked on stamping. That was 6 years ago and I have loved every minute of it. I appreciate all the thought and hard work you put into your classes. Keep up the good work.
