Today I wanted to share with you all a beautiful vintage wall hanging I created for my daughter. The picture on the wall hanging is one I had taken at a portrait studio when my daughter was 3 months old. You can click on the main picture for a larger view.
To create the actal base for the wall hanging, I used one of the dies in the Spellbinders Donna Salazar Creative Book Pages die collection. I die cut two pieces out of lightweight chipboard and then stuck them together. I needed to give the wall hanging more stability than I could get with one piece alone, but the die wouldn’t cut through anything thicker. I then die cut a third piece out of patterned paper from my Prima 6″ x 6″ stack and stuck that to the front.
I printed my picture on Whisper White CS, cut it to 2 1/2″ x 3″, and then matted it onto a piece of vintage book paper which I hand tore. I used some of Melissa Frances’ gorgeous vintage resin embellishments around three of the corners, and decorated the bottom right corner with roses.
The beaded pearl chain is part of a necklace I found at the dollar store which I simply took apart. I then used jump rings to attach it to the wall hanging, and I also used jump rings to attach the crystals to the ends of the beaded pearl chain pieces. Ideally, I would have preferred to use black eyelets to better go with the black tint of the chain, but unfortunately I didn’t have any. I’m thinking I may pop by Michaels tomorrow to see if they have any.
All the supplies I used are listed below. I will be filming a video on how to make this project from start to finish – and putting it into the Paper Crafter’s Library for members, next week.

Beautiful! I love the bead elements, and am glad to hear that you find embellishments at the dollar store too!
Splendid creation! The shape of the die-cut is really great too!
