Shake it Up
by Aliya White
Lately I have been obsessed with the “how-did-they-make-that’s” while looking through paper crafting lovelies. I kept coming across shaker cards but they were much thinner than I remember from the past. But still full of surprises which I love.
A fun example of these little pockets are these gorgeously stitched happy-in-a-package accents that were created by Eva for a birthday greeting. Tell me you wouldn’t love to receive one of these on your special day?

And before you go into a full swoon, look what she did with this scrapbook page!

The entire front of this next card is a shaker. Tracy accented the shaker with a hot air balloon stamp and the trendy welcome baby banner. I just love this. The vellum is just perfect.

You can see another great use of vellum in this trendy jar card. The movement in this card is just great. I love all of the love pouring out, especially without the mess.

This next card is more of a traditional shaker card without the thickness. The sequins mingling around the quote are just great. Loving the trendy speech bubble as the opening.

Get the party going with the quote on the outside of the shaker in this fun card by Lindsey. The beautiful sequins can take center stage and show off of their iridescence even with the fun sentiment on the outside. She says this card was a simple and I think it looks simply wonderful.

It is still not too late to wish folks a happy new year if your card looks this awesome. Look at all of those yummy sequins in this little pocket Jocelyn made out of glassine . In addition to the sewing on top she also used glitter tape to seal the bag.

If you, like me, did not get the sewing gene from a family member , you can appreciate just how awesome the prospect of using tape to seal a shaker. Well check this out from Donna. Awesomemness and bling and shaker collide with new sewing skills needed! She was inspired by a tutorial from Julie Ebersole.

This next clever girl made her own pocket using pocket page inserts for baseball cards. Awesome. The shine is also doubled using cool glitter paper as well as sequins.

You don’t have to stop at cards or page layouts with these fun pockets. Look at how awesome shakers look on tags!

I think of this next card as a vellum shaker without the shake inside. Terri made this card with space for internal embellishment but used the space for a stamped image instead of bling. The final look is quite classic.

I hope you find some inspiration in creating a pocket shaker of your own. There are many ways to do it to create something beautiful and interactive.
