Sometimes I think being a paper crafter is synonymous with being a shopper. I don’t have a weakness for shoes, I can hold steady against purses and clothes, I can turn the other cheek when it comes to jewellery….but when it comes to paper crafting products?……I have absolutely NO willpower!
A few weeks ago I received a big order (ahem, okay, a couple of big orders) from Papertrey Ink – I’m so in LOVE!
Now I have a confession to make, I’ve been a Papertrey Ink lurker and collector for awhile – in particular I just love Nichole Heady’s style – but never really had much of an opportunity to use the stuff I bought. Today I finally took some time to really dig through my supplies and just start playing.
I actually started today’s project with a technique. I’ve been working on a video series on Stampin’ Up! Stampin’ Pastels for Paper Crafter’s Library, and have been playing around with various techniques – which, work equally well with any other brand of chalk as well. Stampin’ Pastels are Stampin’ Up!’s branded name for chalks – so they are pretty much the same thing as the Decorative Chalks you see or the Pebbles Chalks.
Yesterday I posted a card using an Embossed Pastels technique on my Sunny Stampin’ blog. Today’s card features a technique I call Shimmery Pastels – a combination of Stampin’ Up!’s shimmer paint and Stampin’ Pastels. Although you can’t see the shimmer in the photo – I stamped the butterfly with my shimmery pastels and painted the die cut butterfly with it as well. As you can see from the logo in the bottom right of the photo, I’ll be filming a video tutorial on this technique for Paper Crafter’s Library members.
I also incorporated a distressed edges technique for Papertrey’s Make It Monday: Distressing Edges – which I’ll also be filming, along with a video on how to use the new Papertrey Ink doily dies and punch-out tools.
There is already a video for the ribbon technique – faux ribbon ruching in the library.
After that, the rest of the card just evolved.
