RRC Logo

Today we welcome back Ribbon Roll Control! Here at Paper Crafter’s Library we’re ribbon lovers – which is why we’re so thrilled to bring you this feature. I don’t know about you, but we’ve certainly found that keeping all our ribbon in one place can be challenging. That’s why we’re excited about featuring Ribbon Roll Control’s ribbon organization and storage system!

RRC8

About Ribbon Roll Control

As the ultimate ribbon organization and storage system, the Ribbon Roll Control allows you to organize your ribbon the way you want – by color, size, style or use! If you have rolls out of control, this is the answer!

Unlike typical ribbon organization and storage systems, the Ribbon Roll Control doesn’t use a dowel – which means you don’t have the inconvenience of removing all your ribbon rolls just to get to a specific one. The Ribbon Roll Control is also made of clear acrylic, so unlike wooden holders, you can easily see the style and quantity of all your ribbon at once. There’s even a built-in ruler for easy measuring!

RRC5

The Ribbon Roll Control comes in two different styles – Original and Petite. The Original can accommodate crafting ribbon rolls up to 5 inches in diameter, while the Petite accommodates rolls up to 3.5 inches.

Original Ribbon Roll Control

RRC7

Petite Ribbon Roll Control

RRC9

Both models fit up to sixteen 3/8” ribbon rolls in one holder, and can be stacked up to three holders high or mounted to the wall – freeing up valuable table or desk space.

RRC3

You can take a look at this video below and see how it all comes together.

Ribbon Roll Control is graciously hosting a give-away for you!! Simply leave a comment about the Ribbon Roll Control ribbon organization and storage system here on the Paper Crafter’s Library blog to win. Trend Watch – Word Play

Brace yourself for a wild literary ride, because today’s post is all about punny word play!  So many stamp designers have jumped on the bandwagon to produce stamp sets that use plays on words and puns to convey adorable messages. I had a hard time narrowing down my list for this post and found myself smiling as I looked at these cards.  Hopefully these puns will bring a bright spot to your day!

Speaking of “bright spots,” Jody’s card using My Favorite Things’ “Watt’s Up?” stamp set really showcases that adorable lightbulb die!

After a rough day, perhaps you or a friend could use a card like this adorable one by Debby. I love the clean and simple look of this card.

This second card by Debby gets her message across so effectively. The way she used stitching to continue the shelf on the top layer is such a great effect.

Chari’s soy sauce bottles have such cute faces. Wouldn’t this card be perfect for a recently engaged couple that likes to cook?

The background on Tobi’s card is beautiful and really allows the sentiment to stand out. How could a person not smile when receiving a card like this one?!

Simon Says Stamp sells this great “Best Fishes” stamp set, and Pamela’s card is incredible! She made a shaker card that is clear on both sides, so you can see through to the fish in the bowl, with little glittery rocks for the bottom of the bowl in the front. What an amazing card!

Mayuri’s card is so colorful and continues in the water theme, but with a totally different set from Neat & Tangled. I love how she made the background for this card with individual stamps.

These new hedgehogs from Lawn Fawn are so adorable, and Nichol’s card really features them well.

The second card by Nichol also features Lawn Fawn stamps. The night sky that she created for the background of this card is just gorgeous. She really captures what the northern lights look like out in the woods!

Keep It CASual #4: Bright Lights Big City Card

Happy Monday everyone!  Welcome to another Keep it CASual – our new video tutorial series featuring clean and simple card making.

For today’s card I used some brand new stamps from Hero Arts / Basic Grey.

Bright Lights Big City Picture 1

I created a sponged background using 3 different colors of Tim Holtz Distress Inks and an ink applicator tool.  I tried to create a look of the sun starting to go down over a big city.  For the stars I used a clear embossing paste through my Simon Says Stamp Falling Stars stencil sprinkled with my clear sparkle embossing glitter from Wow! Embossing.  Because the embossing paste dries clear the effect is very subtle.  It looks so beautiful in real life.

Bright Lights Big City Picture 2

You can watch the video of how I created this card below:

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Bright Lights, Totally, Heydey Sentiments (Hero Arts)
  • Ink: Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Peacock Feathers Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Ranger); Black Dye Ink (Simon Says Stamps)
  • Paper: 120 lb White card stock (Simon Says Stamp)
  • Accessories: Ink Applicator Tool (Ranger); Falling Stars Stencil (Simon Says Stamp); Translucent Embossing Paste (Wendy Vecchi), Clear Sparkle Embossing Glitter (Wow! Embossing); Fiskars Compact Stamp Press

Bright Lights Big City Picture 1

Here’s a link to all the products I used to create this card – other than the Heydey stamp set which I used on the inside of the card (not sure if that is still available).

Art Journal Express #22: Video Tutorial “Define Yourself” Art Journal Page

Art Journal Express a free video tutorial series where I show you how I created one of my art journal pages from start to finish.

Today’s art journal page is called Define Yourself – and it evolved out of an ongoing dialogue that I have been having within myself about life.  You can watch the video tutorial from HERE.

They know that their business is a success because of devoted fans who use their products and hope to continue developing even more products that meet the needs of all crafters!

Fancy Pants Designer – Kim Watson

Today we welcome Kim Watson. We are so excited to have her showcase her work today on Paper Crafter’s Library. You can see Kim’s super cute Christmas brag book below, but first, here is a little more about her:

KimWatson-11052014-250WKim Watson lives on a mountainside with her family, in a beautiful seaside suburb just outside of Cape Town, South Africa. She is married to her best friend who is ever patient with her need to mess with paper and glue, as well as have a camera present whenever possible. Her sweet children and life next to the ocean, surrounded by nature give her an endless source of content for her pages, which she describes as being full of texture, layers, color and, of course, her trademark stitching. Kim has been working with Fancy Pants Designs for 4 years as well as many other manufacturers in the scrapbooking industry over the years, including 5 years as a Dream Team member for Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine. Kim loves more than anything knowing that the time and love put into her pages will help her children remember how good their childhoods are and that even the ‘not so good times’ leave us with lessons learned and wisdom gained.

Simple Christmas Brag Book

Today I am excited to show you how to make a simple mini-book using Fancy Pants Designs Oh! Deer Christmas collection. The beauty of this design is it requires no stitching & can be completed in an afternoon.

KimWatson1-11052014-550W

STEP #1: Using a frame, place a piece of Vellum Paper behind it to create an translucent ‘window’. Decorate it with ephemera, punched snowflakes and a die-cut bow (see HERE for cut file)

KimWatson2-11052014-550W

STEP #2: Decorate & prepare a selection of Brag Cards & Decorative Frames to be used as ‘pages’ in your mini book for photographs & journaling.

KimWatson3-11052014-550W

STEP #3: Print out photos. Most of mine were 2″x3″ to fit behind the frames.

KimWatson4-11052014-550W

STEP #4: Punch each page at the top left corner for inserting a twine tie.

KimWatson6-11052014-550W

STEP #5: Tie all your pages together with some sturdy twine, making sure to tie it loose enough to be able to turn the ‘pages’.

Trend Watch – Going Wild for Woodland Critters

These critters are just perfect.  In real life, they may be a bit intimidating but when you can stamp them or use them on patterned paper, they can add just a little bit of the outdoors to your paper projects.   We have seen so many of these woodland creatures lately, I just had to show you some of my favorite ones.  I am not sure if Katy Perry started it but when she asks in her song, “What does the fox say…?” these guys just keep getting cuter and cuter.  But  I still haven’t heard what they say.

This sweet faced fox  from Amy is such a cutie  and is perfect to work with your alcohol ink pens.

This next guy is all bundled up and ready for his cool weather adventures.  I just love his little smirk.  Also check out the awesome Doodlebug fox paper in the background; double word score!Nancy Thomas POD Cedar Fox

Suzanne did such an awesome job of bringing her fox friends to life in this next card.  How adorable are they?

We have to give the deer and the cardinal some woodland love too.  How sweet is the kraft paper on kraft paper in this card.

Debby always does such a good job on her cards and I think she outdid herself with adorable gift bag.  Hedgehogs are so hot.

Squirrels are usually so busy but this card uses awesome bold fall colors in the die cut leaf background so the squirrel can be the neutral center piece.  He is such a cutie.

I actually laughed out loud when I saw this little food holder from Mel.  She filled it with nuts and check out the cheeks on the squirrel.  Tell me that you think this one is as awesome as I do.  Just love it.

The squirrels in my neighborhood are more like the sentiment in this card, a small gang of yard invaders, but they look so clever in this one.  I think the guy on the right is actually a skunk.  None of those in my yard but so cute on a card.

Nichol gave the skunk a little love in this next card.  With the perfect sentiment, this card is so stinkin’ cute!

The beaver is just begging for a little pun too.  To tell you the ‘tooth’ I think this pun steals the show.

Raccoons have never looked cuter.  In this adorable card by Michele, it steals her heart.  Cute thief.

Nichol used a combination of cuties in her card using a photo negative base to highlight the fox, and his friends the squirrel and the hedgehog.

Keep It CASual #3: Harvest Thanks Card and PCL Member Highlights

Happy Monday everyone! Welcome to another Keep It CASual – a video series featuring Clean and Simple Card Making.

In today’s video I’m going to show you how I made this Harvest Thanks Card featuring a negative die cut technique. I also show you how you can add shading to your solid image stamps using sponge daubers.

Harvest Thanks Card: Keep it CASual #3 - by Andrea Walford for Paper Crafter's Library

I created this card using the new Fall Fest stamp set from Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Mini Catalogue.  Initially I bought this stamp set because I thought the little ghost was adorable, and there were so many different size options for the pumpkins along with all the face options to create jack-o-laterns.

The great thing about the  stamp set though is that if you use the pumpkins as stand alone images you can create harvest and thanksgiving cards as well.  Although Fall is one of my favourite times of year, and I love working with leaf images, after awhile I get tired of using leaves on cards – so this gave me something different to work with.

Harvest Thanks Card Pic 2: Keep it CASual #3 - by Andrea Walford for Paper Crafter's Library

Here’s the video on how I created this card.

Here’s a list of the supplies I used:

  • Stamps: Fall Fest (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango Classic inks, Old Olive Stampin’ Write Marker (Stampin’ Up!); E41, E42, E43 Copic Markers (Copic)
  • Paper: Stamper’s Select White Card stock, Fine Linen card stock (Papertrey Ink), Cajun Craze card stock (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Accessories: Wet Paint Cuts die (Papertrey Ink); Big Shot (Sizzix); Stampin’ Dimensionals, sponge daubers (Stampin’ Up!)

Featured Artist/Designer: Libby Hickson

Welcome to another Featured Artist/Designer Spotlight. Today we’re thrilled to welcome Libby Hickson.  Before we show you Libby’s project, let’s get to know her a little bit more…

LibbyHicksonProfilePic-10302014-250WHi! I’m Libby and I’m so honored to be featured here on The Paper Crafter’s Library! I’m originally from Michigan, moved to Texas after college and now my family and I have settled outside of Atlanta, Georgia. While my husband works hard to support our family (and my addictive hobby!), I am a very busy PTA & soccer mom with my kids, who are in 1st & 3rd grades. I come from an extremely talented family of artists, musicians and theater people, but I never actually thought of myself as creative until I discovered scrapbooking and rubber stamping. As is the case for many stampers, it all began with an invitation to a Stampin’ Up party! I started my blog in April of 2007, never dreaming of the opportunities it would open for me. I’ve enjoyed my time on several design teams over the years, and currently work for Hero Arts as well as writing the monthly newsletter at i {heart} papers. I love all things ink and paper and I especially love my stamps! You can visit me at my blog, Libby’s Little Addiction, as well as on Instagram and Twitter.

Crafty Friends Card

Today I’m sharing a fun card I made featuring one of my favorite message stamps from Hero Arts – because really, crafty friends ARE the best of friends! I created a watercolored background, then stamped the message in white pigment ink and clear embossed. I distressed the edges of the watercolor paper and added sequins and little twine bows which tie in to the burlap paper in the background.

Featured Company: Graphic 45

We are happy to bring you this week’s Featured Company: Graphic 45. We are so excited to be featuring them regularly on Paper Crafter’s Library!  For those of you unfamiliar with Graphic 45, we’d like to take a minute to re-introduce them to you.

Graphic 45 is an award-winning scrapbook and paper crafting company— owned and operated by a mother and her two daughters.

Diane Schultz—Designer and CEO (aka mother)

“I’m passionate about being creative and eager to make it possible for others to find their creative voice. My background includes stints as a designer for, McCalls, Simplicity, Vogue/ Butterick, Mattel Toy Company and a host of other jobs that each, in some way, led me to what I do now. At 45 I went back to school and got my degree in graphic design— I named the company to celebrate that achievement.”

Aimee Filimoehala —Director of Operations

“I wear a lot of hats and love it that way. Business, marketing, operations, etc. have made me a pro at multitasking (aka juggling‑figuratively and literally). When we launched Graphic 45 in 2008 we had no idea what was in store, working together as a family has been an amazing journey that we all feel so grateful to be apart of.”

Charee Filimoehala —Director of Customer Service and Social Media Coordinator

“I joined the team in 2009 and haven’t looked back…what a life-changing experience this has been. I love working with and around creative people and products (not to mention I like my co-workers quite a bit). I spend my days working with our friendly stores and talented design team…the occasional trip somewhere warm is pretty nice too.”

Together we create vintage inspired crafting products that capture the flamboyant style of the 1920’s and 30’s – with vibrant color, irresistible texture and imaginative design to create products with decades-old appeal that’s both fresh and familiar. Let our products inspire your next scrapbook layout, card, album or home decor project.

Graphic 45 Designer – Ginny Nemchak

Our Graphic 45 Guest Designer for this week is Ginny Nemchak who is part of the 2014 Graphic 45 Design Team. You can see Ginny’s fabulous project below, but first, here is a little more about her:

GinnyProfilePic-10292014-250WI’m Ginny Nemchak and I live in a sweet little town out in the country with my husband of 21 years and 2 almost grown boys. I am convinced there there is no better living than out on a dirt road….it’s a very blessed life I have.

I have been crafting my whole life in some form…but my creative outlet is now focused on paper. I enjoy all types…layouts…mini albums…cards. I have recently discovered a new love for altered art and digital collage.

Graphic 45 has been my favorite paper company since I discovered it. I love all things vintage and shabby chic.  They have so many fabulous patterns and you can mix and match between the line to get a very unique look!  Anytime I can add ribbon and flowers and buttons I am a happy girl.
