Makeover Monday Challenge # 14: Inspired by Deanna Misner…our last Makeover Monday Challenge

 LifeIsAWalkInThePark

Welcome to our last Makeover Monday challenge – a weekly challenge brought to you by the Paper Crafter’s Library and Sunny Stampin’ Studios. The purpose of Makeover Monday is to help you learn how to take the ideas and inspiration you find on the internet, and make it your own. This challenge is strictly a “work from your stash” challenge.

Yep!  You did read that correctly.  When we launched our Makeover Monday challenge 3 1/2 months ago – we had high hopes for this challenge.  After all, in our emails, people would consistently be asking us HOW we came up with our ideas, and WHERE we went for inspiration. That is where the concept for this challenge was born. Unfortunately, the participation has been disappointing, which is why we’ve decided to discontinue this particular challenge.

We’re at a cross roads right now, trying to figure out whether or not to continue on with any type of challenge – is challenges something you guys want? If yes, what type of challenges would you like to see?  Please take a minute to answer our question in the comments section of this post so that we can decide whether or not there is any value in trying a different type of challenge.

Our last inspiration piece, shown below, is from Deanna Misner– a paper crafter whose blog we recently discovered.

You can watch Tracy re-create the page using elements from our stash here at the Sunny Stampin’ Studio:

Here are the details on how you can participate in the Makeover Monday Challenge:

A new Makeover Monday Challenge & video will go up every Monday

  • Post your project on your blog, in your gallery or on any other photo-hosting site (such as photobucket or flickr).
  • Click on our inLinkz button below to add a link to your project for our challenge
  • You will have until 7am, Monday, February 20th, to add your link to the list to be eligible to win. And you can enter as many times as you like.

  • The winner will be posted here. The randomly selected winner will win a grab bag filled with over $30 of spring-themed goodies.

Good luck to everyone and we look forward to seeing your projects!

Now before I go, it’s time to annouce the winner of last week’s Makeover Monday challenge……

  1. I have enjoyed doing your Makeover Monday challenges. I have completed each one–though sometimes not in time to post! Although I was happy to win a prize once (on my least favorite project, BTW), I completed and posted the challenges for myself. I would love to see you continue with challenges even if you do not offer prizes. I have not participated in many challenges online; however, I really enjoyed one a few years back where the poster showed a photo of something she found interesting and we took our inspiration from that photo. Sometimes it would be a photo of a room, a painting, a piece of clothing, and once she posted a photo of a group of glasses. The challenge would be different than the current Makeover Monday one because we would not have a card or page layout, just a photo of something. It was not until the last two Makeover Monday challenges, that I was able to move past the layout and just be inspired by the project to make it my own. This is the first time I have actually posted my challenge projects. I made that my extra challenge and that was a big step for me–so thank you for making it so easy to post (I might have backed down!).

  2. I have not participated in the Makeover Monday challenges but I enjoyed receiving them and watching the video’s. I always love getting new ideas and the Paper Crafter’s Library is the best! So I hope you will be able to find something new to replace the Makeover Challenges, maybe just a new simple card or project idea on Mondays but with out the challenge. Godd luck and thanks for sharing all of your ideas and projects.

  3. Hello ladies. I have loved the makeover Monday videos as well. But as a member of PCL, I actually did not participate in the challenge since I figured that they were mainly for non members and to get people to discover this great library !!! I really do enjoy that type of challenge. I have given myself the goal of participating in the themed challenges in the library and as such, posted my first “entry” (yay). If this moves over the the library, I will definitely participate (maybe on a monthly basis?). I would also enjoy a colour combo challenge – they often get me to think outside of the box and sometimes leave my comfort zone.

  4. I along with 3 friends have been doing everyone of these challenges. We have not posted any, have not used Inlinkz before and none of us are computer savvy. We do like working from our stash. I hope you find another challenge like this one. 3 of us were teaching the 4th friend how to make cards. The video always helped her. A color challenge would be great or maybe a lesson on how to use Inlinkz. LOL

  5. I love reading the Makeover Monday, but truly, I love reading all the posts! I wish I had more time to devote to the craft, but I find it hard enough to do the bare minimum, and can’t find the time for challenges or contests at this point. That said, I do frequently make-over cards and projects I see here. The inspiration is amazing. I may not choose the Monday cards to re-make, and I may not post them, but please know that you and the design team are ALWAYS an inspiration!

  6. I love the Makeover Mondays and always look forward to watching them, but due to my schedule am not able to participate in the challenges. I would be happy to have the Makeover Monday without the challenge because I like to see the projects you come up with and to get new ideas for my card making and using what I have at home.

  7. While I have not participated in the Makeover Mondays, I have thouroughly enjoyed them and it has made me think abut recreating a card in a different way. I tried making a card from another website, and came up with a card I was really pleased with. I for one will really miss this episode each Monday. I looked forward to it. Sometimes postings might not really represent how popular the episode was or is.

  8. I’ve enjoyed the Monday Makeovers very much even though I didn’t post. I think the Makeovers are very valuable even though people don’t post. I learned from them and think they are good sources of inspiration. I’d like you to continuue doing the Makeovers, maybe without the Challenge part. We’re still learning.

  9. As I stated on the Facebook post, I enjoy the MMC’s! I have participated in every one of them, right from the beginning. I even won a prize once! I look forward to them, they are just part of my Monday! I really liked how you and Tracy would show an inspiration piece and then show step by step your take on it. That really helped me to look at my supplies ‘with fresh eyes’. I no longer felt like I needed to run out and purchase EXACTLY what was used on the project that I admired. You taught me to look at a card, be inspired by it, then using items from my stash, make a card of my own. And I am so grateful for that! Awww…I will miss them, but I certainly do understand if you need to change direction. I wish you all the best!

  10. I have enjoyed your makeover challenges even though I haven’t participated in them. I’m new to challenges, and I don’t have a blog. I hope you continue with challenges so that I might find the nerve to enter.

  11. I love your makeover Monday challenges and am so sorry to see them go. I personally love challenges, so if you were to make the challenges in a different way, such as a sketch challenge, a color combo challenge, etc. I would still participate. Being a scrapper by nature, I have a tendency to do more scrap related challenges. I tend to make a ton of cards and have a pile of them, so therefore I just don’t make as many cards unless I actually need one of a certain theme or purpose. So, when it comes to making things for challenges, I personally have a tendency to make more of an attempt to submit items for scrappy challenges, because for ME that is more productive. I know it’s going in an album….not in a box to see if it ever gets used.
Whatever you do, I will continue to enter…..when I’m not to busy to get to do any craftiness! Thanks for all you do – I stalk your sites daily! 🙂
