Graphic 45 Designer – Maggi Harding
Our Graphic 45 Guest Designer for this week is Maggi Harding who is part of the 2014 Graphic 45 Design Team. You can see Maggi’s fabulous project below, but first, here is a little more about her.
Hi, I am Maggi Harding and I’m a southern gal living in North Carolina with my husband and two standard poodles. We love to travel and do so mostly in our RV so that our sweet fur babies, Nika and Tisha, can be with us. We have been from Key West, Florida to Fairbanks, Alaska and from the Pacific shores of California to the Atlantic shores of North Carolina in our well travelled motorhome!
I discovered scrapbooking in 2005 when I decided to make scrapbooks for my two best friends from college. It quickly became my passion and something that I spend hours doing and never grow tired of my efforts.
My style is eclectic as I do a little bit of everything. One day it’s mixed media and the next day its classic layered papers on a layout or tag. Then some days I like to think in 3D and make boxes, hats, shoes, dresses for dress forms, doghouses, etc. Two things I really love are vintage styling and bright bold colors so Graphic 45 is perfect for me. When I get a new paper collection I always ask myself, what can I create, how can I make this piece of paper come to life? I am drawn to this hobby by the challenge of combining beautiful patterned papers to create cohesive art pieces.
Rare Oddities Witch’s Boots
I love making and altering 3D items. Things that have a purpose really excite me, like this fun container for Halloween treats. This boot would easily hold a couple bags of chocolate and yum, wouldn’t that be fun to fill and keep on your desk and maybe share with your co-workers? You could also use it as a centerpiece for a Halloween party!
I started with a Silhouette Witch’s Boot cut file enlarged to 200%. Then I added paper in the center such that the boot cut-outs attached to each side come together forming a boot toe. This allowed me to add the fun lacing that really makes it look like a boot. Now just fill it up with chocolate and you’ve got an art piece that everyone will want!
