Many of you may remember that back in April we hosted a Graphic 45 Week on the Paper Crafter’s Library Blog. It was week filled with projects and inspiration using Graphic 45’s Tropical Travelogue Collection. We had such a great experience partnering with Graphic 45 and their design team, and such a great response from you, that we’ve decided to partner with them on an ongoing basis. The first and third week of every month one of the Graphic 45 Designers will share a project they’ve created here on the PCL Blog. Two weeks ago we had our first designer and before I introduce you to our second Designer, I just wanted to take a minute to re-introduce Graphic 45 for those of you that may not be familiar with the company.
Graphic 45 is an award-winning scrapbook and paper crafting company— owned and operated by a mother and her two daughters.

“I’m passionate about being creative and eager to make it possible for others to find their creative voice. My background includes stints as a designer for, McCalls, Simplicity, Vogue/ Butterick, Mattel Toy Company and a host of other jobs that each, in some way, led me to what I do now. At 45 I went back to school and got my degree in graphic design— I named the company to celebrate that achievement.”

Here’s a picture of their booth at the CHA show which absolutely blows us away every year! The artwork inside is absolutely stunning and totally unique. At the last show as we were speaking with Diane she told us that many of the altered pieces were vintage finds which she and her team transformed with their gorgeous Graphic 45 products. We can’t wait to stop by their booth at the Chicago CHA and see what they’ve got in store this year!

Our next Graphic 45 Guest Designer for this month is Arlene Cuevas. Arlene is part of the 2012 Graphic 45 Design Team.

Hi there, my name is Arlene Cuevas! Creating has always been a passion of mine ever since I can remember. When I was young, one could always find me on the dining room table creating something! And when I get in my zone, there’s no coming out!
I attended my first craft party in 1994 where I dabbled in card-making and scrapbook layouts. I was instantly hooked on paper crafts! I found the scrapbooking community on YouTube in 2008 and grew quite fond of creating mini albums and altered art. I also enjoy stamping, art journalling, and Copic coloring. I love to experiment and express myself with different materials, products and designs… but I would describe my style as vintage-grunge with a splash of shabby chic! I love to share tutorials and “how to’s” on my Youtube channel “mybutterflykisses12” and blog (butterflykisseswithlove.blogspot.com) and am fortunate to design (and have designed) for several scrapbooking companies, including Graphic 45!
I’ve been married to the love of my life for 12 years and we have 3 young boys, ages 4, 8 and 10. To keep the balance in my home full of men, I have a 3-year old toy Yorkie named Nala — she’s my princess! I live in sunny California and work full-time for a large fortune 500 internet company. I’m a product manager by day, crafter by night! Ask anyone who knows me… coffee and chocolate are the two evils that I cannot live without! 🙂

I had to chuckle at one of Andrea’s opening comments: “… I just wanted to take a minute to re-introduce Graphic 45 for those of you that may not be familiar with the company.” Oh, the unlucky person who hasn’t heard of G45. They are a mainstay of the papercrafting industry and have such a distinctive style. I’ve even bought a few special individual pieces and just matted and framed them. No matter the G45 paper, there is always some emotional response to it that delights me. These projects are brilliant, Arlene. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with all of us. It looks like we’re all in agreement — you are an exceptional artist.

Oh, how wonderfully detailed and beautiful this project is! And finally some real inspiration to *use* that pack of Le Cirque paper that I impetuously purchased ’cause the colors just called to me…..
The black and shiny doily used in the card is so sexy, and somehow, un-doily like! I adore it all. I can see a triptych in my future.
