Keep It CASual #3: Harvest Thanks Card and PCL Member Highlights

Happy Monday everyone! Welcome to another Keep It CASual – a video series featuring Clean and Simple Card Making.

In today’s video I’m going to show you how I made this Harvest Thanks Card featuring a negative die cut technique. I also show you how you can add shading to your solid image stamps using sponge daubers.

Harvest Thanks Card: Keep it CASual #3 - by Andrea Walford for Paper Crafter's Library

I created this card using the new Fall Fest stamp set from Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Mini Catalogue.  Initially I bought this stamp set because I thought the little ghost was adorable, and there were so many different size options for the pumpkins along with all the face options to create jack-o-laterns.

The great thing about the  stamp set though is that if you use the pumpkins as stand alone images you can create harvest and thanksgiving cards as well.  Although Fall is one of my favourite times of year, and I love working with leaf images, after awhile I get tired of using leaves on cards – so this gave me something different to work with.

Here’s the video on how I created this card.

Here’s a list of the supplies I used:

  • Stamps: Fall Fest (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango Classic inks, Old Olive Stampin’ Write Marker (Stampin’ Up!); E41, E42, E43 Copic Markers (Copic)
  • Paper: Stamper’s Select White Card stock, Fine Linen card stock (Papertrey Ink), Cajun Craze card stock (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Accessories: Wet Paint Cuts die (Papertrey Ink); Big Shot (Sizzix); Stampin’ Dimensionals, sponge daubers (Stampin’ Up!)

I also wanted to show you a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of some of the projects that were released to our members these past two weeks. We’ve put together a sneak peek you of just a few of the video tutorials & pdf handouts our members received during the weeks of October 20 – October 31, 2014.

Each week at Paper Crafter’s Library our monthly members can expect to receive access to a minimum of 5 exclusive videos each week. Typcially members receive upwards of 25 exclusive videos each month. In planning for our projects we ensure that we cover a range of project types so that there is something for everyone whatever their interest or preference – whether it be card making, stamping, scrapbooking, altered art, mixed media, 3D items, templates, techniques etc. Projects range in difficulty level – so there will always be projects in library for whatever your paper crafting “level” whether you are a beginning paper crafter, or a more intermediate paper crafter.

Highlights these two weeks:

  • An art journal page
  • A scrapbook page
  • Creating flowers using punches and dies
  • Drawing inspiration from non crafting images
  • Altering wood veneer embellishments with embossing paste that has been dyed
  • Cards from our Amazing Birthday Creative Inspiration Collection
  • MDS – Using photos as a background on your project

Did you also know that Paper Crafter’s Library members also receive free access to our online classes?  Right now members are enjoying the Holiday Cards 2014 Class.

  1. Thanks for these terrific stamping technique tips! Love that shading…really adds dimension to the image. I think I would show a little more of that darker color as a frame…just my preference. Lovely card!
