Graduation Money Holder Card Featuring a Punch Art Owl

I am so happy it’s Friday!  This has been an absolutely insanely busy week!  On Monday I was at a family funeral (my husband’s side of the family) that was 5 1/2 hours one way, and we made the round trip in one day. So as you can imagine, that was pretty exhausting!  During the rest of the week I’ve been training my virtual assistant on some new tasks and interviewing for some video editor positions.  Which is why my posts and projects have been a bit sporadic this week.  Thank goodness for Soph, as she has had lots to share with you all!

My project for today is a Graduation Money Holder.  The inspiration for this card came from an amalgamation of several projects I saw on Splitcoaststampers. I loved the punch art owl you see HERE, so I just started playing with my punches until I got something similar.  I got the idea for the hat and scroll from THIS CARD. The money card holder idea came from HERE.  And it all came together to the project you see featured here today!

Here’s a list of the supplies I used for the punch art owl:

Ink: Signo White Gel Pen
Paper:   Early Espresso CS, Cherry Cobbler CS, Crumb Cake CS, Basic Black CS, Whisper White CS (Stampin’ Up!); Tapioca CS (Bazzil Basics Paper); white copy paper
Punches: 2 ⅜” scalloped circle punch,  1 ¾” scalloped circle punch, ¾” circle punch, ½” circle punch, Round Tab punch, 5-petal flower punch (Stampin’ Up!); 2” scalloped circle punch (Papertrey ink); flower punch (retired Stampin’ Up!) *Note that you can use scalloped circle dies instead of punches; for the small flower you can use any small flower with rounded petals, OR hand sketch the feet and cut them out
Adhesives: Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue, mini glue dots, Stampin’ Dimensionals (Stampin’ Up!); double-sided adhesive of your choice
Dies: Square Lattice Embossing folder, Big Shot (Stampin’ Up!)
Other: black embroidery thread

Here’s a list of the pieces I used to create the owl:

  • Early Espresso CS: 2 ⅜” scalloped circle, round tab punch
  • Embossed Cherry Cobbler CS:  2 ⅜” scalloped circle, 2” scalloped circle, 1 ¾” scalloped circle
  • Tapioca (pale yellow) CS: 5-petal flower punch, small rounded petal flower
  • Whisper White CS: two ¾” circles
  • Crumb Cake (Kraft) CS: three ¾” circles
  • Basic Black CS: two ½” circles and scraps for the hat

As it was a very time intensive project to film (45 minutes of video for the whole thing) – it’s only being made available to Paper Crafter’s Library members.  If you’ve never heard of, or tried out Paper Crafter’s Library, you should check it out!  You can find out more details at http://www.papercrafterslibrary.com/.

In the meantime though, I did post a free video on the Sunny Stampin’ Blog today on how to create a Pocket Card, featuring an insert onto which you can put a gift card or write a message. You can see it here: http://andreawalford.com/a-video-tutorial-on-how-to-create-a-pocket-card

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Love the Owl Graduation card. I am a stampin up demonstrator of 2 years and was looking at blogs. I haven’t gone that far yet but wanted to check some out to see what it’s all about. Really like yours. Great job.
