Today on the Paper Crafter’s Library blog, we’re continuing our weekly featured artist spotlight whereby each week we spotlight a different artist/designer in the paper crafting & mixed media world and introduce you to their fabulous work.

Today we’re thrilled to welcome – Jennifer Roach

Before we show you Jennifer’s fabulous projects, let’s get to know her a little bit more…

1010jenniferroachMy name is Jennifer and I live in Ontario, Canada with my husband and almost 4 year old daughter. I work full time in the Pharmaceutical Industry during the day and at night and whenever I get a free moment I like to spend time in my craft room!

I started out in paper crafting back in about 2002 when my Mom and I took a scrapbooking class together. A few years later I decided to give card making a try and it’s been my passion ever since. I’m the world’s slowest scrapbooker so the instant gratification of card making really won me over. Over the years I have used more and more stamping in my designs and I love learning and trying new techniques and styles.

I would probably define myself as a “scrappy stamper”. I *LOVE* patterned paper and most of my cards have lots of it with added layered on embellishments and textures.

I currently design for Purple Onion Designs and Your Next Stamp. I have been lucky to have many of my designs featured in many different card making and scrapbooking magazines over the years.

Designer Project

For my project today, I have used three of the season’s hottest trends:  kraft, chevrons and a fox.

Jen Roach - What did the fox say

I stamped and coloured the fox image with my Copic markers.  My four year old daughter is obsessed with Ylvis’s “What did the fox say” song so I thought it would make a great sentiment for the front of the card.  Inside I will finish with the other part of the sentiment (e.g. Happy Birthday, Hello).  I printed the sentiment on my computer onto a white sheet of paper and then put the kraft journaling box on top and printed a second time.

The background was stamped in beige ink with a dot backgrounder and then I just layered the card with a strip of embossed paper, another piece of chevron paper and some twine.

I hope you like my card today!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Cedar the Fox from Purple Onion Designs, Swiss Dot Backgrounder from Purple Onion Designs
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Memento Sand, brown distress ink
Papers:  My Mind’s Eye patterned paper, Neenah cardstock
Accessories:  Mama Elephant die cut, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Copic Markers, Your Next Stamp blue Gumdrops embellishment, burlap twine, SNF Goody Font

We hope you have enjoyed the fun creation from Jennifer and we would also like to extend a warm thank you her for sharing this fabulous project with us! Please take a minute to stop by Jennifer’s Blog and see more of her beautiful work (and let her know we sent you).

  1. What a sweet and charming card! I Love all the layers and the great use of the Chevron paper. Your Copic coloring is awesome, too. It is also nice to see stamps from a company that I have never heard of (Purple Onion Designs). Foxy Lady!

  2. Cute! What die cut is the shape that you have the words in? And how did you do the “stitching” on the brown background? My son and his friends are obsessed with the What does the fox say song? Even Siri has an answer for you if you ask her in the new iOS!
