Welcome to Day 4 of WOW! Embossing Powder week on the Paper Crafter’s Library blog! We’re very excited to be partnering with WOW! to showcase their extensive line of fabulous Embossing Powders. Since discovering Wow! Embossing Powders at Winter CHA 2012 in Anaheim, they’ve rapidly become our favourite line of embossing powders, and we just can’t get enough. We’ve been finding ourselves reaching for them over and over again – our projects really come to life with the addition of our WOW! Embossing Powders.
Every day this week we’ll be sharing fantastic projects featuring WOW! Embossing Powders created by both the WOW! Design Team as well as the Paper Crafter’s Library Designers/Educators. At the end of this week, two lucky winners will receive a Wow! Embossing Powder Prize Pack consisting of a variety of Wow! Embossing Powders. The winners will be drawn from all the comments left on the Paper Crafter’s Library Blog or the Paper Crafter’s Library Facebook page as well as the WOW! blog or the WOW! Facebook page.

WOW! Designer Project
Our WOW! Designer today is Jan Hennings. You can see her project below, but before that, here is a little more about Jan:
My name is Jan Hennings and I’m enjoying life in rural Iowa and am a wife to Ryan and mom to seven, we still have 3 teens at home. I enjoy altered art, mixed media and love to teach and share my passion with others. I would consider my style vintage, shabby, unique and thrifty! Many of my altered projects are made using thrift store finds. I teach at a Scrapbook store when I have an opportunity. My art has been published in numerous Stampington and Company Publications.

Altered Energy Drink Can
As an Altered Artist, I’m always looking for new ways to use “items”. My boy’s drink energy drinks and I was inspired to alter the can when I saw there was a lid. I love adding knobs to the center of the lids. The knob gives the can a completely new look. I always give the can a coat of white gesso because I want to hide the name of the energy drink. This gives the can a clean “canvas” to work on. This can will be a gift for my sister as the vintage photo is of her and my mom. This could be a gift if it were dressed up in fun papers or use a holiday theme and fill with sweet treats. I have altered several cans and have the sitting in my home as home décor items.
Supplies:
Energy Drink Can, moss, Door plate and knob (Graphic 45), flowers (Prima), stamp and embossing powder (WOW!) Versa Magic ink, Hot glue gun and glue sticks (Glue Arts), dolies, Vintage family photo.

Preparing your can for stamping and embossing:
- Start with a clean Energy Drink can. Paint the can with a coat of white Gesso. Let dry.
- Ink Brocade stamp with Versa Magic.
- Roll the gesso coated can over the inked stamp. Repeat this for the bottom portion of the can.
- Sprinkle the embossing powder over the stamped image. Heat emboss.
- Using Versa Magic and a paper towel, add Gold embossing powder to random areas of the can. Heat emboss.
- Embellish can as desired.
We hope you have enjoyed the project from Jan.
Paper Crafter’s Library Designer Projects
In today’s projects Paper Crafter’s Library Designer Sophia continues on the theme of embossing with metal. In her first project she alters a cute enamelled metal tin with her daughter’s name, and then embosses stars on the tin using Wow!’s Glow in the Dark Embossing Powders. So when the lights are off at night, her daughter Naomie will see the stars glowing brightly!
Our Paper Crafter’s Library member exclusive video by Sophia is this Rustic Country Mailbox. Soph found some adorable metal mailboxes at Walmart and altered it using a variety of Wow! embossing powders to make it look as though it were splattered with dirt. The cute little tractor finishes off the theme. A perfect decoration for her two little boy’s bedroom!
There is a video tutorial and handout for this project available to our Paper Crafter’s Library members.
So there you have it! Day 3 of our celebration of Wow! Embossing Powders I hope you have enjoyed all the projects that our design team and the Wow! design team have created for you.

Wow! The can and all the projects are great. Thanks for the inspiration and the video.
Sophia, great find. I love how you personalized the tin. These tins could come in really handy as an organization tool in my scrap room. Adding an embossed design adds such character. Hope I can find something similar. Thanks for sharing such a terrific idea.
The energy can transformation is amazing! The tin is so sweet – a great gift for my daughter’s friends.
So fun to team up with Paper Crafter’s Library! THANK YOU!
Love the ideas today. Have to pass the energy drink can idea on to a friend who already uses these cans for great crafts! She’ll love this one! Really like Jan’s style–will head on over to her blog to see more!

I followed Jan’s blog here. So many wonderful ideas you are sharing!
What a beautiful project!!!
okay I learned that WOW has glow in the dark! Awesome!! All the altered art was great today, thank you for all your hard work this week I’ve learned so much.
Another WOW! That energy drink can transformation is amazing.
My question is this: is there anything that a bit of embossing powder won’t make more interesting? 😉
Love the altered tins. Our recycling company may see a decline in their intake. I’m heading over to Jan’s blog to see what other magic tricks she performs.
That is so original!! I love it!! I’m definitely going to try this out!
Thanks for all the great ideas!
I’ve seen the mailboxes before at Michael’s, but have never known what to do with them. Thanks for the idea. sharon dot gullikson at gmail dot com
How cute–you could make one for Valentine’s Day for the kiddos’ parties at school (to hold their Valentines).
the amazing projects today thanks for all the ideas and inspiration that are running around in my head. love your videos
I am again amazed by the Wow brand embossing powders… I’ve never seen glow in the dark embossing powder only glow in the dark glitter. I’m so excited by this and will be trying this powder out. Thank you for opening my eyes up to a product I didn’t know about.
The altered mailbox is such a fun idea!
Well, you WOWed me again. Your team always has such great projects.
Your work is amazing. Thanks.
Great stuff! Who would have thought that was an energy drink can?!
Glow in the dark – super idea for embossing powder – love to try this !
This is the reason I love Paper Crafters Library so much, until the intro to embossing videos I didn’t even know you could emboss on tin/metal/glass, etc. . . This was a great tutorial for showing how to do it. I even liked that she used a round object because it made you see how to handle that situation. I ALWAYS learn something from this site and the videos and it makes me want to try the techniques out even more. I hope I win some of WOW’s products to play with!
On a side note, can anyone tell me where you can get a tweezer like the one used in this video? it seemed like it would be helpful not only with embossing but with lots of other paper crafting needs as well. I haven’t ever seen it, so if someone could let me know, I would be grateful. The other question I had was about the stamps used in the video. When she brought them out they appeared to be in a CD jewel case. Did they come that way or can we use those to store our own stamps? Just wondering. . . Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!
Have a great day,
Maureen
