Stitching is a big thing in paper crafting lately. But not everybody has a sewing machine at hand… So there are a couple of ways to add a faux stitched border to your projects. You can draw them by hand or stamp them, but there’s an easier way too. A lot of companies are releasing new dies with stitched borders now! And while I really love the depth and detail the real stitching gives, it’s a bit too much work for me to get the sewing machine out for just one card. And then these stitched dies are awesome! A quick way to ad some lovely details to your card. Let’s have a look at what you can do with them!

I’ll start with some plain square dies. The stitching gives a nice finished look and adds another (discrete) frame to the shaker element on this card from Leigh Penner.

LeAnne Pugliese really stayed in the sewing theme with this card, with a stitched border die and some little spools of thread stamps.

You can color your die-cut piece as usual and the little stitched border will look great! Like this card from Jess.

The next card from Teresa is another lovely example from a card where there’s a combination of stitched border dies and normal dies. In this card the other die interrupts the stitched border which gives it a playfull look.

Next to the plain square dies there are a lot of other shapes with stitched borders. Like this party banner shape from Lawn Fawn that Lydia Brooke used. She also used it with a speech bubble die on top of the card, the stitched border continues around the card this way. This gives the card a great finished look.

Most of the stitched border dies are great to combine with each other. Kim used several different dies on her card and they look great together.

Paper smooches has a set with stitched borders in different shapes, which just add a stitched line to your project. This gives you the freedom of using the stitched borders but without a diecut shape around it. Lynn used it on this card.
