Always looking for fresh inspiration, Jill turns stamped images into true works of art. As her “Inspired By” blog followers know, Jill has a beautiful style and an unparalleled love of paper crafting. She also designs for Penny Black stamps and loves to share her passion for paper, color and stamping through video and photo tutorials.
Love and Color in the Garden
Happy spring, my friends! Jill here and I’ve been working on my garden… well, the garden of flowers in my studio, that is! Have you started planting yet?
To color my image, I first began by stamping it using my black Stamper’s Big Brush Pen. Because the ink from the pen is india ink, it will be waterproof once dry– perfect for painting! I colored my image using Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils, adding the color in the darkest areas first and then blending and spreading the color with water. I wanted to create a golden glow around the flowers. To do so I colored lightly onto this area of my project using a Butterscotch Gelato® and then blended it with my fingertip. Finally, I added fun splatters to the piece by coloring with a Nougat Stamper’s Big Brush Pen onto my acrylic block, adding water, and then flicking the color onto the piece using a paint brush.
Well, even though I don’t have a green thumb in my backyard, at least I can do some “planting” with my Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft “seeds.” Hugs and Happy Stamping!

Faber-Castel is my favorite for any writing implements. Did you know Faber invented the first pencil? It preceded the ink pen by almost 100 years! All of their products are the best quality. Your creations show that. They’re beautiful!

Watercolor designs are usually connotative of pastels and soft colors. But, watercolors can also be bold and dynamic as you have shown us with your creation. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful project.

I love Faber-Castell and have done for many years. When I was a little girl in school I craved the Faber-Castell pencils. I never did get my own. However I’m now in my sixties and I can buy my favorites. I have a set of Gelatos and have enjoyed using them in mixed media. But this card today is really very lovely and I may just try my hand at using my Gelatos on a card.

I really envy people who can color so well. My parents and grandfather were great painters but I can’t draw a straight line and coloring becomes a blur when I try much of it.
