Featured Artist/Designer: Joni Andaya

Today on the Paper Crafter’s Library blog, we’re continuing our weekly featured artist spotlight whereby each week we spotlight a different artist/designer in the paper crafting & mixed media world and introduce you to their fabulous work.

Today we’re thrilled to welcome Joni Andaya.

Before we show you Joni’s project, let’s get to know her a little bit more…

Hi, My Name is Joni Andaya, I live in Jacksonville, in the sunny state of Florida.  My passion has always been to design and create things. You will usually find me stamping and creating when I am not in school getting a degree in Software Engineering – I only have one subject left before my graduation this coming February 2014. 

I started stamping when my daughter was born in 2004 to create some invitations for her first birthday party and I’ve been hooked ever since.  I created my blog in 2012 and really got serious on creating mostly cards. I tend to create mostly cards because of the requests of families and friends. I am also honored to be part of some of the design teams the Runway Inspired Challenge & CAS(E) this Sketch.

My style usually focuses on dimensions and colors. I love to play with inks and mists that are out there, I also love to create my own backgrounds for my cards. I get lots of inspiration from Pinterest. I am also so fortunate to have been published in Paper Crafts Magazines and included as one of the Stamping Royalty for this year. I am so honored to be a Featured Designer here at Paper Crafter’s Library and so very grateful for having me! Thank You!

The idea of this card is that the images and sentiments can easily be interchange with other images and sentiments to use for multiple holiday cards.

Directions

1. Create a card base from a cardstock.
2. Adhere the woodgrain panel to the card.
3. Create another panel using white cardstock, and emboss it with the snowflakes and dots images.
4. After embossing, distress the panel with different colors of distress inks, using the lightest to darkest, starting at the top of the panel.
5. After distressing, add the shine mists and let it dry.
6. Stamp the fox image on a separate piece of white cardstock.  Color it with copic markers and cut it out.
7. Next, die-cut the oval shapes.  Emboss the sentiment with a silver embossing powder.
8. Assemble the images – attach the fox at the bottom of the card, tie some natural twine on the other side of the panel, attach the oval pieces, attach the ribbon piece, and make a bow from the natural twine.
9. Adhere the panel to the card.
